For our final collaboration of the year, we decided to look at a classic, yet unique offering from our friend Eric Au, owner of Skinth Solutions. While Eric is typically known for his multi-tool sheaths, he more recently released the Brunch 4 Tote. The Brunch 4 is a curiously small 4L tote, just about the size of a lunch bag, and herein lies its genius. We fell in love with the original Brunch 4, using it for everything from quick errands and gear hauling to carrying a few drinks and snacks to our socially distanced meetups.

For our collaboration on this bag, both Skinth and TPP wanted to include some upgrades and tweaks that would cater to our community. Since we all agree that lasers and magnets are the future, we included lasers and magnets. The front pockets were upgraded with laser-cut PALS webbing to give the 4L bag just a bit more minimal expansion if needed. We wanted users to be able to add small pockets for anything from corkscrews and chopsticks to Eric’s popular Shield series sheaths.

The closure was upgraded from a standard side-release buckle to a Koren made magnetic release buckle from Woojin. These buckles are easy to open and they find their way home when you’re done.

A small patch panel was added to the top of each pocket on either side. We kept these at 2″ tall to accommodate a wide range of patches and name labels. Our upcoming patch series will be 2″ tall, just so you can rock it in more places.

When we talked colors and materials, we wanted to stick with the classic TPP colorway of grey and white. So, given that, Multicam Alpine was an obvious choice. But, we still wanted to offer something to people that prefer a more subdued bag, so Muilticam Black also got thrown in to the mix. We went with Dimension Polyant’s X50 as it provided both structure and water resistance, from both external and internal sources. While it’s not a waterproof bag, we didn’t want users to have to worry about accidental spills.

We also looked to add a pop of color, preferably in the form of a high-viz liner, so we dug into TPP branding history and quickly realized we had some under-utilized colors, like teal, and green. We kept the liner simple – a PU coated 420D packcloth. As a gear hauler, we wanted something durable and flexible that you could easily wipe clean after a spill.

The Skinth Brunch 4 Tote was one of our favorite products this year, especially in a time when we’re all carrying differently due to the global climate. We hope you find the Brunch 4 as useful as we did, and we hope you enjoy the tweaks and upgrades we made for this special collaboration for our community.

The Brunch 4 Tote is available now from Skinth solutions for $105USD each for the Multicam Black or Multicam Alpine versions, or $195 for the set.
